Should you get an Inkjet or a Laser printer?

The greatest debate

The greatest printer debate of the new millennium is whether to get an inkjet printer or a laser printer. Why is there so much fuss about this? The first thing to consider is the budget. In your initial purchase, you are normally going to spend more money on a laser printer. Laser technology is more sophisticated than the normal inkjet technology. If you would like to compare the technologies of ink and the technologies of xerography then you will certainly think that the xerography technology is much more advanced than the inkjet technology. If you are going to buy a laser printer then you are going to be spending more on the initial purchase. Buying an inkjet printer on the onset is generally cheaper than the laser printer counterparts.

The ink cartridge

The next thing that you have to think about is the ink. When it comes to ink, the inkjet is much more expensive. You are going to pay more for the ink of an inkjet printer than that of a laser printer. The inkjet consumes much more ink than the laser printer. You are going to expect to change ink cartridges with the inkjet printer more often than that of a laser printer. In this situation, you have to think of the razor and the blade analogy. Are you going to buy a cheap razor with expensive blades? Are you going to buy an expensive razor with cheap blades? The choice is yours.

Speed

The third thing that you have to consider when it comes to getting an ink printer or a laser printer is the speed of printing. A laser printer prints faster than an ink printer. If you are concerned about the speed of printing then you should consider a laser printer over an inkjet printer. If you are not so concerned about the speed of printing then getting a laser printer over an inkjet printer will not be so much of a problem.

So what now?

So what is your decision? Are you going to get a laser printer or are you going to get an inkjet printer. Do you want a cheap initial unit with pretty expensive cartridges or do you want to have an expensive initial unit and save on the succeeding costs? Do you want to have a fast printer or can you suffice with a printer that is slightly slower? What is your take on this? Make a wise decision so that you are not going to end up miserable with your printing experience.
